Bumper Repair & Replacement in Josephine, Your Choice of Parts
A tap in traffic on SH 78 or a backing bump at home in Nevada can leave a cracked cover and a bent bracket. We'll lay out the repair and replacement options side by side.
Get your bumper options — (000) 000-0000A Bumper Is More Than the Plastic You See
The painted cover is just the outer skin. Tucked behind it sit an energy absorber, a steel or aluminum bar that takes the real load and, on plenty of late-model vehicles, parking sensors plus a radar that feeds adaptive cruise and automatic braking. A low-speed hit can crack the cover and leave everything else fine, or it can look minor while bending the bar behind it. We take the cover off to see the whole picture. Next comes the money question: can the cover be fixed, and if not, how do a new factory cover, an aftermarket one and a recycled one compare? The reinforcement and sensor parts get extra care, because they're tied to safety.
Bumper Work We Do
Here's what a bumper job can include, with the choices you'll usually be offered.
Cover crack and tear repair
Many plastic covers can be plastic-welded or glued from behind and refinished. It's often worth doing when the tabs and edges are intact.
Three ways to replace a cover
If the cover is too far gone, we price a new factory cover, an aftermarket cover and a recycled one so you can compare cost and fit.
Scuffs and gouges refinished
Surface scuffs are sanded, filled and painted to match, with no replacement needed.
Absorbers and reinforcement bars
These parts are designed to crush once. If they're damaged, we replace them, because their job is protecting you in the next hit.
Tabs and brackets
Broken tabs make a bumper sit crooked. Fixing or replacing them lets the cover sit flush with the fenders and lamps again.
Sensors and radar units
Parking sensors get transferred into the replacement cover, or swapped if they cracked, then tested. Radar units for adaptive cruise get calibrated after the repair.
Grilles, fog lamps and trim
Small parts in the bumper often crack in a hit. We list them on the estimate so nothing is left out.
Color matched on plastic
Bumpers are painted with flex additives and blended to the fenders so the color looks the same across the seam.
Bumper Repair From Start to Finish
- 01
Pull the cover, look behind
We take off the cover and look at the absorber, bar and brackets behind it. We check the sensors and wiring too. Then we write up the repair and replacement options with pricing for each. You choose which way to go.
- 02
Fix or fit the parts
A repairable cover gets glued, reshaped and smoothed. A replacement cover is test-fitted to confirm it lines up before paint. Structural parts that took damage are replaced with the correct parts. Sensors are moved over and connected.
- 03
Color, hang and check sensors
The cover is painted to match and allowed to cure. We mount it, check the gaps to the fenders and lights and test the sensors. If the car has radar, it gets calibrated before we hand over the keys.
Why Bumper Owners Like Our Approach
Repair offered when it's sound
A cracked cover doesn't always need replacing. If repair is a sensible option, we'll price it.
Parts trade-offs explained
Aftermarket and recycled covers can be good choices on some cars and a poor fit on others. We tell you what to expect from each.
Safety parts stay safety parts
Absorbers, bars and sensors are not where we offer the budget route. They get the right part, every time.
